I have a theory about Dr. Phil...
I think people watch Dr. Phil so that they can get their voyeuristic fix of other people's problems (and laugh, because people get themselves into such stupid messes), without the pitfall of having to watch the embarassing white trash one finds on such shows as Jerry Springer and Ricki Lake.
Its no different. Dr. Phil just has a cleaner look and a classier host. :)
